  • Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) is a specialized, evidence-based form of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) designed for young children—typically under age 5—diagnosed with autism or related developmental delays. It focuses on building foundational skills (communication, social interaction, daily living) through highly structured, one-on-one teaching.

  • Parent/caregiver training is a key part of EIBI. You’ll learn strategies to support your child’s learning at home, help generalize skills, and manage challenging behaviors in everyday life.

  • In Massachusetts, insurance companies are required to cover ABA, including EIBI, for children with an autism diagnosis (per state autism insurance laws). Coverage varies, so verification is essential.

  • First Steps offers to families developmental assessments to provide a comprehensive look at your child’s strengths and areas for growth across communication, social skills, play, motor abilities, and daily living skills. Using standardized tools and observation, we create a clear picture of your child’s current developmental stage. Contact us for more information.
